The Farm

You may have noticed on the New Cambium website that its stated the whole community is situated on a working farm. In short, the large pieces of vacant / unsold land are fenced off and rented out for pasture for cattle. While its really not a big deal, cows generally don't disturb the peace and not an issue. BUT.... theres always a BUT. One pasture is home to a donkey named 'Don'... a seemingly very lonely animal. Its a novelty during the day, he loves your vegetable trimmings... nothing wrong with feeding the animals. Hes friendly, loves attention etc. But the 'isn't that cute' evaporates very quickly when he brays in the night. Yes, he will wake you up more than once out of a deep sleep. Suddenly, the donkey isn't so cool anymore. We're on vacation and theres a donkey that brays at 2 a.m. seemingly right outside the window. The donkey serves no purpose but there it is, disturbing the peace at all hours. Another dumb choice made by someone. Remember, this is the hospitality industry... people need sleep, but lets place a very loud random alarm right amongst the guests and expect they'll love it?

The walking trails / shortcuts are drawn on the map on the website. They are shortcuts from place to place, you can walk around the fields or take the shortcut across. Mango 8 to the communal pool is quite a distance by walking the internal roads, but a third of the distance taking the walking paths across the fields. Sounds great... except the trails and the fields are almost completely covered in animal dung. We took the path once it was slippery and impossible to avoid stepping in the dung. We saved some time but filled the soles of our footwear in dung in doing so. Thats not a good thing... we recommend not using the paths or bring your boots on vacation.

The Donkey

There he is, hanging out mere feet from the house. Remember its not so cute when he wakes you in the middle of the night.
